First off, I’m sorry for not getting a game preview up for Saturday’s game. No excuse, I just didn’t get around to it. So as a recap, I’m choosing to focus on the positives first. Yovani threw like a true ace, matching Santana pitch for pitch. Even in the loss, this was a great thing to see. However, the Brewers continued to run into really good pitchers in this early season. We all know Santana is great and he proved this once again on Saturday. It is what it is. Once again, the thing that sucks is how we lost. First, a walk to the #8 hitter, then an all too familiar sight…Ricky Weeks committing a huge error. This was all the help the Mets needed to push across the only run, which was the winning run. The Brewers are now 1-4 in one run games. This is a stat of a team that just can’t get it done. Playoff teams win close games. It is very true that you can’t win a division in April, but you sure can lose one. The Crew is on the edge right now. Only 11 games in, we are 5 games under .500 and we are 4 games back. Time to turn it around boys. Here is your Sunday preview:
Unfortunately for the Brewers, the Mets decided to skip Mike Pelfrey’s turn in the rotation. This is unfortunate because he had been shelled in his first 2 starts of the year. What makes this even worse is that the Mets have called up Nelson Figueroa to make the start. The definition of a “career journeyman,” Figuroa has dominated the Brewers. Before last year when Figueroa beat the Brewers he had not won a game since 2004!! Yes, 2004!! We’ll leave it at that. Continuing to make this worse is the $12.5 million dollar man is on the hill for the Crew. We’ll leave it at that. Honestly, I don’t see how the Brewers win. Negative thinking I know, but……….I just don’t see it. Hopefully I’m wrong. Go Brewers!
